Tucker the Mustang & Cindy Branham Week 10 “Ups & Downs”
- Mommy & Me!
- Part of the Extreme Trail Team!
- King of the Mountain!
- Picture Perfect
Week 10 was full of frustration and excitement. The beginning of the week was a little tough as Tucker decided he would much rather go back to the barn/gate than go forward and work. So we spent alot of time doing serpentines and circles until he wanted to go forward. When a horse is dealing with barn or buddy sourness, you want to replace the behaviour we don’t want, with a behavior we do want. So when Tucker would stop at the gate and refuse to go forward, I would ask him to work hard at trotting serpentines. When I asked him to go forward again and leave the gate he would make a choice that would give him a release from the hard work of serpentines or choose to resist and have to go back to work. Pretty soon he realized it is a lot less work to just go forward. It was a tough three days of work, but by the end of the week things really started looking up and he was doing much better!!
At the end of the week I took him to a Ranch rodeo and UHCA Cowboy race! He did great around the crowds and cows and rowdy cowboys and cowgirls!! It was blazing hot, but we had a great weekend!!
I learn so much through these mustang makeovers. I learn how to be a better trainer as these amazing horses teach me so much about patience and perseverance. They also teach me how to let go and love. Tucker is fitting into my family so well. Ryan and I have been puzzled to why this beautiful buckskin was never adopted through the BLM program. However, all I can say is God made us for each other and with God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!! Luke 18:27
