"Perfect Kiss" Purina Mills Dream Ride
|
Purina Mills
Dream Ride was a
refreshing time,
we had a great time as
a family spending time
on our horses with
family and friends.
This is an awesome
event that Ernie
Rodina puts on in the
Spring and the fall.
Riding through the
flinthills of Kansas
was so beautiful and a
reminder of how great
our God is. We then
had a great time as a
family at the Purina
Mills Ambassador
appreciation event.
Thanks to Ernie
Rodina and Purina
Mills for the awesome
weekend!

What an amazing event at the Topeka Expo Center! Each one of
us picked out an untouched wild mustang and over the course of
the three day BLM wild horse adoption gentled them and
introduced a halter and lead rope.
Cindy's horse was smart, athletic, and pretty. She was scared at
first, but was glad to have a friend. From wild to mild in three
days.
Joanne's, (Cindy's assistant trainer) horse, she named "Spot",
was a little more afraid, but Joanne showed off her education in
the round pen and got a great start on her filly. She did a great
job demonstrating how to work a scared horse into a trusting
partner.
Ryan's (Cindy's husband) mare was more of a challenge. She had
a little more fight, but Ryan's patient and quiet spirit won her
over. He only was able to work with her one day, as she was a
little sore, but made tremendous progress with her in a short
amount of time.
Cindy's horse, now known as "Shelby the Mustang" came home to
the R&D Ranch, adopted by C.C. Metzler. She is currently in
training. You can follow her progress on face book.
Spot, Joanne's horse was on her way back to Hutchinson to be
started under saddle, then adopted out. AWESOME!
These wild horses need a voice! Our new motto is to save one
mustang at a time. Do you want to help? Click Here, to find out

Both our Extreme Makeover For Your Horse
Course Clinics were a great success!
Over the course of three months we had three different
groups of riders go through the series. Two groups here in
Topeka at our home, the R&D Ranch and one group in
Wakee, Iowa at Painted Prairie Acres.
From round penning to the saddle these students worked
hard at the clinic and then at home doing there homework. I
was so proud of all of my students and there horses!
Congratulations to Rhonda Flanagan's horse, Mojo, and
Michelle May's horse, Soldier, for the most Extreme
Makeover Horse award. Both of these horses started out
out of control, dominant, and unsafe. These two ladies
worked hard, stayed patient and consistent, and developed
a working and trusting partnership with tough horses!
Also congratulations to Alaina R. and Patty Bishop for the
Extreme Makeover Rider award! Both of these ladies started
out timid and afraid, they loved there horses, but didn't feel
safe. Working through there fear with step x step lesson
plans and hard work they both were able to overcome and
build confidence in themselves and there horses. I am so
proud of both of them.
One of my favorite things about my job is being able to see
the transformations of people. Horses affect all aspects of
our lives. They promote confidence, patience, love, and
most of all trust in our souls. They help make us better
people. God is so good to have given them to us as a gift. A
gift that is also a teacher.

The first Annual Starting Colt Competition at the American
Royal featured three very different two year old filly's, with
different temperaments and backgrounds. I was honored
to work with a 16 hand two year old filly, named Diva.
Owned by Mary Reis of Tiny Creek Ranch.
After four days of hard work we completed the challenge
and rode through the obstacle trail course. Diva came
along ways! She started out with little work, not even been
lunged before; to being ridden at a walk, trot, lope, jump,
go through and over obstacles. I was very proud of her
and honored to be able to share her progress with the
audience of the American Royal.
I look forward to working with Diva in the future. She has
so much potential. She is a great horse! Thanks Mary for
sharing her with me for a few days!

As I reflect over the past Spring and Summer, I feel so blessed to have the wonderful support of my family and friends. In February I blew the ACL in my knee again and was overwhelmed as I looked at facing surgery again. My family, friends, and clients were so encouraging to me as I had surgery and then three months of physical therapy. I owe my great recovery to the Lord first; and then my surgeon, Dr. Pool; my physical therapist, Burt Deweise, and his assistant Heather, at Rebound; and Betty Blazic for introducing me to better health through the nutritional products of ReLive. It has not been easy, but God has given me the strength to keep up with home and business. It is so great to be working horses again and feeling confident in my knee to keep me walkin, not fallin. I look forward to next year being a full year of clinics, events, and fun!
God uses so many things in my life to bring me closer to Him. It is not always easy to go down the path that he sets before us, but if we give into the pressure in our lives, He gives us release, peace that passeth all understandings. I am so thankful to Him for all of the blessings in my life. My home, the R&D Ranch; my family; my friends; and all of my wonderful clients and fans, and my horses. God bless you all!
